If you’re feeling the pressure to pick a word mantra for the upcoming New Year, I invite you to join me in picking “relentless.”
It calls to mind the exact mood I want to summon when I’m feeling beaten down, tired, and hopeless.
Because relentless doesn’t mean burnout, or overwhelm, or spastic attack. All of that takes adrenaline, and will leave you worse off than when you started. (And maybe it’s why we’re here feeling this way at the end of a wringer year).
Relentless is about the long-term approach we have to take to get anything worthwhile done. The price of progress we pay. To always bring ourselves back to the starting line, ready to race, even if it feels like we’re racing the same race every day and getting nowhere.
If we’re relentless, we’ll get there eventually.
